Frequently Asked Questions

Opionate helps you test design decisions with real people instead of settling them by opinion. Run a Pairwise Comparison or Stimulus Test, and the platform handles the survey logic, AI-assisted analysis, and reporting underneath.

Anyone choosing between creative directions - UI/UX and product designers, brand and packaging teams, advertising creatives and agencies, marketing teams, and more. See Use Cases for examples.

No. You don't need to be a trained researcher to set up or run a test - Opionate handles the survey logic underneath, so you can focus on the decision.

Pairwise Comparison runs head-to-head rounds across up to 12 options, and people pick a winner round after round until you know what wins. Stimulus Testing shows one option at a time and lets you anchor your questions to the exact region you want feedback on.

Between 2 and 12 images, run either randomized or league-based. A Pairwise section can't include extra follow-up questions inside it - if you need to dig into the "why," an AI Follow-up on a Stimulus or standard question does that instead.

Yes. Every test is a full survey underneath, not just a click counter - add screening questions, ask real follow-up questions on open-ended responses, and segment results by audience.

In two steps. First, AI reads every open-ended response and proposes a set of themes - you can rename, edit, or delete any of them before approving the framework. Then AI classifies every response against what you approved, flags the ones it's least confident about for a second look, and you can recode any answer yourself at any time.

Yes. Publish any dashboard to a public link and send it to whoever needs it - no Opionate account required to view it. You can optionally require sign-in first, or put a password on it if the data is sensitive.

Yes. Connect Claude, ChatGPT, or any other MCP-compatible AI assistant to your Opionate account - sign in and authorize once - and it can draft and edit your surveys through natural conversation: add and edit questions, adjust logic, and more. Every change goes through the same validation as editing a survey yourself in the workspace, and it only ever sees and touches your own surveys. It can't publish a survey, launch respondent recruitment, or view response data on your behalf - those stay actions you take directly in Opionate.

Yes, for the standard chart types - bar, column, line, scatter, doughnut, pie, and their stacked variants export as native, fully-formatted PowerPoint chart objects, not flattened images. You can edit the underlying data, colors, layout, and notes directly in PowerPoint afterward. Four less common chart types - Waterfall, Treemap, Polar Area, and Lollipop - export as images instead, since PowerPoint itself has no native chart type to hold them as editable objects.

Yes. Question-level results and cross-tabulations are generated automatically the moment responses come in - no manual pivot-table work.

No. Opionate is wired into a live respondent panel, so you can recruit real participants without leaving the platform - or invite your own audience if you already have one.

You set a target number of respondents and a reward per response, and the cost is calculated upfront. You're only charged for Approved responses (full reward) and Screened Out responses (a smaller fixed amount) - rejected, returned, timed-out, or still-pending submissions are never charged.

Yes, as many as you need - for example, relaunching at a higher reward if response rates are slow. Every wave starts as a draft first, so nothing goes live and nothing is spent until you explicitly publish it.

Not directly in-app, by design. If there's a problem with a specific submission or wave, you can file a report and our team resolves it on the panel provider's own dashboard on your behalf.

The survey builder itself is free forever - unlimited surveys, unlimited responses, Pairwise Comparison and Stimulus Testing, screening and display logic all included at no cost. You only pay for AI features. See Pricing for details.

No subscriptions - buy AI credits only when you need them, and they never expire. That way a quiet quarter doesn't cost you anything you didn't use.

Yes - every new account starts with free signup credits, shown at signup, so you can try the AI features before buying more.

You do. Your surveys, responses, and results belong to you.
