Your First 10 Minutes on Opionate: From Sign-Up to First Response¶
If you'd rather get a survey live and start seeing real responses than read through every guide first, here's the fastest reasonable path - with links to go deeper on any step once you're past this first pass.
1. Sign Up and Verify Your Account¶
Sign up with an email and password, or use Google sign-in to skip the separate verification step. See Understanding Email Verification and Why It's Required and Google Sign-In and Account Security for the details.
2. Start From a Template or Build From Scratch¶
The fastest path to a working survey is starting from the Template Gallery rather than a blank page - see Starting a Survey from the Template Gallery. If you already know exactly what you want to ask, build directly instead: see Introduction to Survey Builder.
3. Choose Your Take Experience¶
Decide between Chat Interface and Traditional Form before you finish building - see Chat vs. Traditional: Choosing How Respondents Take Your Survey. This affects how respondents will experience the survey you're about to build.
4. Preview Your Survey¶
Before sharing it with anyone, preview your survey yourself to catch anything that reads awkwardly or doesn't flow the way you intended. Preview mode always starts fresh, so you can test it as many times as you need.
5. Publish and Get Your Link¶
Publishing your survey gives you a short, shareable link - send it directly to your own audience, or see Introduction to Panel Recruitment if you need respondents you don't already have access to.
6. Watch Responses Come In¶
Your Survey Management page shows responses as they arrive, along with completion rate and average completion time - see Completion Rate and Average Time: What Your Survey Management Page Shows You.
7. Build Your First Report¶
Once you have a handful of responses, head to Reporting and see Building Your First Report to turn them into charts.
