Trust & Security FAQ¶
Quick answers about security, privacy, and trust in Opionate. For fuller coverage, see Security Overview and Data Privacy and Consent Management.
Account Security¶
Does Opionate require email verification?¶
Yes, if you sign up with an email and password. Google sign-in skips this since Google already verifies your identity. See Understanding Email Verification and Why It's Required.
Is Google sign-in more secure than a password?¶
It relies on your Google account's own security rather than a separate Opionate password - see Google Sign-In and Account Security.
Does Opionate store my card details?¶
No - purchases run through an established third-party payment provider, and card details never pass through or get stored on Opionate's own servers. See How Opionate Handles Payment Security.
Data and Privacy¶
Are my surveys anonymous to respondents?¶
That depends on how you design and distribute the specific survey - Opionate doesn't enforce anonymity automatically. See Respondent Anonymity: What Opionate Does and Doesn't Guarantee.
What consent do respondents see before starting a survey?¶
Every respondent sees consent information before their answers are recorded - see Consent and Privacy Notices Respondents See Before Starting.
Does Opionate share my data with third parties?¶
Third-party services (like the payment provider) are used for specific functional purposes, not for sharing your survey content or respondent data. See Security Overview.
Bot and Link Protection¶
Are survey and report links protected against automated abuse?¶
Yes - both include protection appropriate to what they expose, plus optional password and login requirements for shared reports. See How Public Survey and Report Links Stay Protected.
Is sign-up and login protected against automated abuse too?¶
Yes, separately from link protection - see Bot Protection on Account Creation and Public Forms.
Staff and Support¶
Do Opionate staff access my survey data without me asking?¶
No - staff access is scoped to operating the platform and responding to issues you've raised, not casual browsing. See Staff Access and Support: What Happens When You File a Report.
Who do I contact about a security concern?¶
Reach out via Opionate's support channel directly rather than posting details publicly.
